The fundamental difference between Obama and Romney is that our President is a Leo, a fire sign whose energy is more outgoing, whereas the Governor is a Pisces, a water sign that tends to be more reserve. The Sun is the planet that indicates what we identify with and what gives us pride and fulfillment. Romney’s Pisces Sun occupies the 11th sector pointing to large dreams and working best with groups. Obama’s Leo Sun occupies the 6th of service and work duties. Obama is more of an extrovert but with his heart and passion directed towards helping those in need. Romney is a very private man not just because he is a Pisces but his Moon falls in the powerful but hidden sign of Scorpio that sits next to expansive, generous Jupiter in the 6th of service. I am sure Romney has contributed a great deal to help others but it’s not his nature to publicize his charitable contributions or his personal life. They have other similarities, as they should since both are successful leaders in government and politics. Obama’s Moon is in intellectual Gemini and Romney’s rising sign is also in Gemini but more significant is that the karmic Nodes are in each of their rising signs pointing to a life of destiny that is not fully in their control.

The liberal politics of our President would be indicated from his Aquarius rising sign, the place in the horoscope describing how he would express himself to the world. Aquarius is the humanitarian but also one who is progressive, scientific and innovative. Aquarius also rules Romney’s 10th sector, which describes his career and professional status, and the ruler of the sign is Uranus that occupies his 1st sector of the personality. I don’t really find strong indicators for Romney being a staunch conservative but he could shake-up and re-invent the Republican Party and bring it back more to the center. The more I study their horoscopes the more similarities I discover even though their personal styles may be very different I would think they are both politicians who want our country to progress forwards with new ideas, technology and science, which are the hallmarks of Uranus and Aquarius that are strong in each of their horoscopes.

It is very difficult to judge who will win the Presidency. Saturn, the planet of government and responsibilities is changing signs to Scorpio in October for the first time in nearly 30 years. Scorpio is a water sign and more compatible with Romney who has 5 planets in water signs. Saturn in Scorpio is more challenging for Obama’s Leo Sun, Gemini Moon and Aquarius rising sign. But before I predict that Mitt Romney will win I recall how I predicted that McCain would lose but Hillary Clinton would be the nominee because Obama’s chart pointed to great hardships in 2009 and Hillary Clinton indicated expansive success. But as hindsight is 20/20 we discover that even though Hillary lost the nomination she went on to become a very successful Secretary of State and Barack Obama won but his first term has been extremely challenging. I should have taken into account that in the fall of 2008 the US economy was on the verge of collapse and whoever would have been elected would have had a very stressful job. Therefore, Romney’s future points to more successes and Obama to more hardships but does that mean Romney becomes President or does it mean that his candidacy opens even more doors for greater successes and wealth as a private citizen?

I believe the race will be very close because of some of what I described above but I am not publicly giving a prediction of who will win because it only creates a climate of polarization and “let’s kill the messenger.” However, I will tell you what other astrologers are predicting. I attended UAC (United Astrology Conference) this year in New Orleans and on the last day of the conference they had 5 esteemed astrologers (4 Western and 1 Vedic) on a panel discussing their techniques for making election predictions and who they believed would win. All 5 said Obama would be re-elected. I then went on my third trip to attend a Vedic 10 day seminar on the East Coast with 3 major Vedic astrologers from India; Gayatri Devi Vasudev, the daughter of Dr. B V Raman (the most famous Vedic astrologer of the 20th Century), Dr. Charak, a surgeon and astrologer who has written the best books on medical astrology, and Vinay Aditya (my teacher when I travel to Delhi). Gayatri and Vinay predicts Obama will win but the very brilliant Dr. Charak predicts it will be Romney who will become President. It would seem that the consensus is an Obama win but Dr. Charak’s prediction makes me stop and wonder which way the US Election will go. One last interesting note; on November 6, 2012 when Americans go to the polls the planet Mercury turns retrograde and several of the astrologers on the UAC panel thought it could indicate that the election will be so close that we will not know who wins that day and may not know for several weeks.
