Aquarius and Capricorn in the Zodiac

Aquarius is known as the Waterbearer, for those born Jan 20 through Feb 19th.  This is an approximation because of the irregular rotation of the earth and therefore not every year will Aquarius begin exactly on the 20th or even end on the 19th.

When I think of Aquarius what comes to mind are all the friends who have been completely out there, free-spirited, rebellious and brilliant.

The key phrase used in astrology to describe Aquarius is “I know,” and these eclectic beings generally do know just about everything but sometimes the more immature Waterbearer will think they know when they don’t and consequently they will come off a little arrogant but hopefully they will grow up but in the meantime if you have to deal with a young self-righteous Aquarian don’t even bother trying to change their minds because they know.

The symbol associated with your sign is the Waterbearer.

The Waterbearer is symbolic of the Gods nourishing the earth with life giving energies. This has been the most confusing symbols of the zodiac and probably so since most people cannot figure out Aquarians anyhow because of their eccentric natures. Ask anyone who knows a little astrology and they will tell you that Aquarius is a water sign because it is symbolized by the Waterbearer. However water signs are very emotional people and Aquarians are definitely not emotional but intellectually motivated.  Aquarians are called air signs; the quality of mental freedom and intellectual analysis. You are often brilliant and sometimes of a genius level but you live in your heads and rarely venture into your emotional hearts. 

The Waterbearer represents the container holding the water and not the water.  Aquarians are the vessels for spreading information; Aquarians are the mouthpieces for innovative ideas. Aquarians are often 3 years or more ahead of everyone else’s views therefore you are seen as strange or genius but whatever, most people do think you are a bit out there.

This ability of tapping into the future is the reason that you are the Waterbearer of new information that keeps eternally springing forth from those people with strong Aquarius planets in their charts. However, the other side of that coin is that you have trouble being in the moment or in the present because your minds are too focused on tomorrow and rarely today, which of course, can cause all kinds of interesting dilemmas and especially with personal relationships. 

To the ancient Egyptians, Aquarius represented the vital spiritual power that renews and fertilizes all things.  That was because each summer when the moon was full in the constellation of Aquarius the Nile River flooded bringing much needed moisture and nutrients to replenish the desert land to allow for food to be cultivated once again. The Nile was the Waterbearer bringing the vital spiritual power to the land to renew it and it always coincided with the full moon in Aquarius.

In love and marriage, the Aquarius will need to retain their sense of individuality and freedom. Remember that for an Aquarius to fall deeply in love, they first have to be friends so don’t rush them, or think you aren't making "progress" fast enough. Also, too much togetherness can wig out the claustrophobic Aquarius, so make sure there are times alone during the relationship.

Switching to affairs of the heart, imagine your first kiss and instead of enjoying it completely you were probably wondering what it meant and where it was going to take you.  And so you missed so much of the emotional joys of life because your body may have been there but your mind was somewhere else.  And then Aquarians wonder why other signs think you are so detached and impersonal.

You do not open up easily and are often seen as being cold and detached. But once you decide to allow someone into your lives for friendship or love, you can become loyal friends or lovers, ready to sacrifice everything for your partners and be faithful to them for life. However, you are sometimes disappointed emotionally because your own high personal ideals cause you to demand more of others than is reasonable. And you choose your friends and lovers so infrequently that if ever another deceives or betrays you , you would literally turn off in a heart beat and forever banish that person from your inner circle.

When an Aquarian matches up with another Aquarius it will definitely not be your conventional marriage but it could be a loyal and enduring relationship based on friendship and consequently have more respect for another than between other signs; Pisces and you are like oil and water but you two could make money together; Aries is a good match but the strong need for independence within each other could cause the two of you to drift into a brotherly or sisterly arrangement; Taurus would make a good nest and home for you but you two would have to give up your mutual stubborness; Gemini will always be your eternal lover and playmate; Cancer is way too emotional and domestic for your needs; Leo is your opposite sign and therefore your marriage partner; Virgo would make a better therapist than a playful lover; Libra and you could travel the globe in search of greener pastures; Scorpio’s could make excellent business partners or a marriage based on strong common goals; Sagittarius is your friend which is the best basis for a marriage; and Capricorn can only ever be a secret lover because you like each other but not each other’s lifestyles.

Aquarians are very social, friendly, charming and outgoing and you love helping others and going on crusades for the betterment of mankind. However, Aquarians do not make friends easily, even though your sign rules the domain of friendships.  Part of the problem is that you live in a world of ideas and even though you know how to communicate with anyone its usually on a detached, non emotional basis because you have to learn how to connect with others on a heart level. Aquarians need to learn intimacy and being there in the moment with another instead of thinking about something else totally unrelated of the future.

When Aquarians are most stressed out, close personal relationships may feel claustrophobic. It is important for you to try and reassure your partner that you still love them but that you need time alone or with your friends. Aquarius has a habit of acting aloof, completely tuning out and not taking time to explain what is going on, which only creates confusion in a relationship. Your lover or partner may think that they are the problem, when that could not be further from the truth. And what is this needing to be with friends when you have marriage and family responsibilities?  Aquarius is the sign ruling friendships and not intimacy and from time to time an Aquarius has to spend alone time with your friends when you are still very much involved in a personal relationship. Aquarians are monogamous usually but you need that mental variety that a spouse cannot provide on a day-to-day basis. Aquarius is a sign that is highly charismatic and you easily become the leader of your group.  But with your nature being directed out to the world, you often forget about those closest to you.

The Aquarius is smart, independent, somewhat rebellious and a true original, which is part of the reason other signs will fall in love with you and because of the fact that you are not a clinging vine.  Friendship is so important to the Aquarius that others may feel your friends are more important to you than the lover. This isn't the case, but it can be hard to cope with at times. Loving an Aquarius is often frustrating because you often act aloof and hard to know. So when falling in love with an Aquarius you might as well throw out all preconceived rules of tradition because Aquarians hate routine, convention and tradition. But even though it will be exasperating at times because you never know what to expect next, the love and romance will remain exciting longer with an Aquarius even if not very constant and cuddly.

Within the dimensions of the Aquarius personality we see the obvious rebellious nature, but also a love of humanity, and the willingness to sacrifice your personal needs for the good of others. The most striking quality in Aquarius is fierce independence.

Oprah Winfrey is a classic Aquarian with her television show and magazine as vessels of information for the public good. She came to the attention of the American public because she exposed and talked about on national tv previously taboo subjects; such as child abuse, rape, alcoholism, bringing them to light.  Other genius’ who were Waterbearer’s of vital information in the past were Charles Darwin, Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Edison, Galileo, and Franklin D. Roosevelt.

Uranus is the planet associated with your sign and it was discovered by telescope in 1781 during the American and French Revolutions. And therefore Uranus was connected with the qualities freedom, independence, and a revolutionary and rebellious nature, all the qualities of Aquarius, which is why it was assigned to your sign.

Aquarius is also said to rule electricity because of it’s similar shocking personality and Ben Franklin didn’t begin researching with electricity until the mid 1700’s when the Uranus was first brought to the awareness of man.

Aquarians fall into two basic types: one shy, quiet and patient; the other exuberant, outgoing and an eccentric, sometimes hiding the considerable depths of their character with this more wild expression.  The reason for the two types comes from the fact that Aquarians used to be represented by the conservative qualities of the planet Saturn before Uranus was discovered in the 1781 and eventually came to be the ruler.

Saturn is known as more traditional, reserved, conservative, and rigid.  However, Uranus is rebellious, eccentric, original, innovative and unpredictable. Just about the exact opposite of the Saturn rulership.  Saturn Aquarians are the scientific, serious thinkers who are inventing slowly and steadily all the new technology that will bring to mankind a higher quality of living.

However, the Uranus Aquarius is of the more rebellious, breakthrough and upsetting of the old standards type.  But the Saturn type is more shy and quiet and the Uranus type is the more outrageous and outgoing type but both are here to be vessels of information to serve mankind for the greater good. 

And once again I mention how interesting it is that the principals of liberation, independence and rebellious didn’t come to the awareness of the general public until the same period when Uranus came to the consciousness of man when discovered with the telescope. And so, the Uranus nature is just another aspect of Aquarius that had been bottled up for centuries and when finally released all hell broke loose, much like the French and American Revolutions but also with the discovery of electricity that opened the way for the Industrial Revolution that was the single most important ingredient for the development of the middle class.

Aquarians need to relate to others and hear a variety of opinions. You often use your friends as sounding boards for your abundant ideas. In the end, however, Aquarius follows no one.  Highly independent, you make up your own mind when it's all said and done.  Your only problem is being so intent on socializing that you can loose your grasp on your important goals. You have a stubborn nature so making changes are hard for you, even though your sign rules the future and open to the unusual. I have always seen it as a control issue with your sign, in that you often believe only you have the answers so why would you listen to anyone else’s opinion. 

You love to shock others and often with just that unexpected phrase or word that you know that others are not expecting out of you or at that moment. However an interesting note on your nature is that you hate being surprised and shocked by others.  You can play the practical joke but you can’t take it.

It’s that control thing you have, whereby you can be the jokester and the life of the party but you do not like surprises thrown at you.

Your mind is very restless and needs constant stimulation and you love being social so from time to time when you often get bored your mind has to make-up drama but it also makes you a bit of a controlling person and therefore being shocked unexpectedly can throw you off balance which is a definite no-no in your world. 

Aquarius represents the areas of groups, associations, organizations and unions. These are all keywords denoting the group dynamic that Aquarians resonate so well with because you love intellectual and social stimulation but on a more detached friendly basis. You hate to be confined or possessed.  And you hate to feel obligated to anyone even if you are in love. And so Aquarians work best with group projects, provided that you are recognized as having an important part in them. And because of your need to work for causes and to champion for the rights of the downtrodden you support all groups and organizations that have these similar high ideals.

Energetically and physically you tend to take on your projects with the intensity of a laser beam, so scheduling time to lighten up would be a good balance for you. But you never like to live with any kind of schedule. Now this may make all kinds of sense to you but to others it comes across as being a space cadet.

Creatively you are the inventor, designer and the innovator. You are the type who through artistic expression upsets conventional morality and pushes the envelope. Whatever you do it must make an original statement. Technology will often play into your creativity whether it’s through computer graphics to developing new games or using innovative tools to make the art; like robots being programmed to paint murals, and always using art to express shocking ideas.

You have a desire for knowledge and truth that makes many of you good scientists. Since Uranus rules technology, inventions and electricity - - anything connected with computers, electronics, and everything technical, you will gravitate towards and often excel if not be the inventor.

Your crusading and humanitarian nature also lends itself for you to be excellent writers, journalists, broadcasters, social workers and teachers. The more psychic Aquarians possess healing gifts and can make excellent therapists as well as healers, and especially of the holistic and alternative type, since you need to break away from tradition and venture into uncharted waters.

Aquarius rules the legs from knees to ankles and the circulation of blood. You are sometimes surprised when your body complains, reminding you that it needs care, since your nature in very mental and not physical and always thinking of tomorrow and when your body tries to communicate with you, you often never pay attention until its too late.  You are also prone towards too much inactivity because you are sitting at the computer all day or getting lost in what you are doing and forgetting about the gym.  So this more sedentary lifestyle because of your strong mental focus can cause circulation problems and varicose veins by sitting too much so maybe you should think about checking your email while using the trend mill.

People around you rarely sense when you're anxious or insecure, since you hide your feelings so well or because you don’t know how to feel or express your feelings. Highly objective in your approach to life, you succeed at not becoming overly emotional about things. Sometimes, however, you could be kidding yourself that whatever is going on is "no big deal" to you. Aquarius is a sign who must get in touch with their feelings--or else suffer the consequences later; such as emotional stress breaking down the body or a relationship.

Your outlook on life is always future oriented and for the good of humanity and the planet.  You definitely are one of the crusaders for the equal rights of all. And because you have this need to embrace the world it’s difficult to keep you isolated in a relationship for your destiny is to connect and help as many people on this planet in your lifetime.
