Aries is known as the Ram for those born March 21st through
April 20th. This is an approximation because of the
irregular rotation of the earth and therefore not every
year will Aries begin exactly on the 21st or even end on
the 20th.
When
I think of Aries; what comes to mind is a very independent,
go-getter personality. A person who is filled with
adventure and courage and lots of vitality and often sports
minded but also there can be this focus on their
self-importance. Now all signs like all people fall between
being very shy or introverted to very dramatic or
extroverted. So naturally the more immature, extroverted
Aries is going to be the king of selfishness with the ego
the size of Alaska. But even with those quiet, and
more mature Aries you will see a streak of wanting to be
left alone so they can do their own thing, no matter how
subtle or charming their personality may be.
The
ram is adventurous, ambitious, impulsive, enthusiastic and
full of energy. Aries is a pioneer, open to new ideas and a
lover of freedom. You welcome challenges and will not be
diverted from your purpose except by your own impatience,
which surfaces fast when you don't get quick results.
Aries
begins with the Spring Equinox when the dead of winter is
over and new life is coming to birth. Like a newborn child,
Aries shouts to announce its arrival in the world. This is
why Aries is always at the beginning of things – just like
a child. Everything is perpetually new. And the
major key phrase in describing the Ram is “I am.” And
so like a child they are full of wonder, energy and curious
of everything new. My grandmother would say, Hey “
you got ants in your pants.”
Many
Aries feel deeply a life long struggle to fight for
everything in life and this can play out as a charismatic
leader pioneering into unknown territories or the Aries who
is defensive and angry towards everyone because of
injustices they felt as a child and have never let go of it
even though it was many years ago.
The
difficult father figure appears again and again in the
lives of Aries. Often the personal restlessness and willful
activity of Aries can be understood as a quest to fight the
father’s or authorities restrictions. Aries usually
have to prove to their fathers, teachers, coaches or bosses
their worth before they feel any support or respect. Now
whether the need to do battle is necessary or not there
seems to be this pervasive quality deep within all Aries to
not trust authority to be supportive initially. Many
Aries take to the adult world or the battlefield of life,
to not expect anything without a challenge. An initial
defensive attitude before it’s even warranted which of
course creates a defensive reaction from the other person,
which by now convinces many Aries why it was a good reason
to be leery in the first place. However, letting out
the gentle lamb before declaring war is the more diplomatic
and successful approach for the more evolved Ram.
When
it comes to love; just the idea of it causes your heart to
quicken. You love to flirt and you love the conquest but if
your prey is too willing you are often bored because you
really enjoy the chase as much as the conquest. Aries
always love to win at everything and if the object of your
desire gives up the challenge too soon it could stop the
Aries fast in their tracks.
When
an Aries matches up with another Aries the two of you had
better be mature and have a healthy respect for one another
or this will just be a competitive exercise of who will
dominate the other first; Pisces will have a very calming
effect on you for the short time you are together, you have
a great chance with love with Aquarius because there is a
strong basis of friendship, Capricorn and you need a common
goal like business or children, Sagittarius can meet you
eye to eye as you travel the globe searching for more good
times; Scorpio’s will push your buttons and cause you to
change but you may not like the growth; Libra is your
opposite sign and therefore your ultimate marriage partner
but it will take a lot of give and take at first; you often
have a great fascination for Virgo’s but it usually ends up
in abuse; Leo will be your eternal lover and playmate;
Cancer will set up a home and family but will also want you
to grow up, heavens forbid; Gemini’s are great but the
passion often turns into a feeling of brother or sister
love; and you and Taurus is better left to making money and
leaving the romance for another lifetime.
Your
warrior nature often causes you to be very frank, direct
and candid in your personal relationships. Many of you will
have a high sex drive and be quite passionate but your
immature side can be your short fuse because of other
people’s slowness or conservative attitudes. And
therefore you can many times ride roughshod over the
sensitivities of others.
You
often need to have many conquests in your romantic
affairs. This impulsiveness can also trick you into
early unwise marriages that could end up in a big mess
because of your passions and your impatience.
Emotionally
you are much more concerned about yourself, since you are
the first sign of the zodiac bursting forth at the
beginning of Spring. And this can translate as
self-reliant but also self centered and concerned only with
your own personal advancement and physical satisfaction.
Your incredible energy can make many of you aggressive,
restless, argumentative, headstrong, but athletic,
courageous, fearless, and certainly independent
.
Many
of my Aries friends have been totally captivating and
charismatic but you do seem to have the conversations be
all about yourselves or you leave bored. But your
best quality is that you are never afraid of a fight, a
confrontation or the unknown. A true pioneering spirit
comes through at some level for all with the nature of the
Ram.
Being
the first sign of the zodiac you are definitely known as
the great initiator where you need to always get something
started and then to lead the way. However, the dilemma
seems to be the minute you become bored you need to start
something else for the adrenaline rush of new
activity. However, you don't finish what you keep
starting. Therefore you might make a better idea person or
motivator rather than one who is responsible for the follow
through process. You could also be the one who encourages
others to look at themselves in a new way. This
ability could make you a very powerful psychologist helping
others cut through the crap and get to the heart of the
situation immediately, a take no prisoner approach.
Your
pioneering spirit will allow you to enjoy life more,
because you avoid being pushed around by others. Your
aggressive nature can be at times objectionable, but if you
aren't honest with yourself and allow yourself the freedom
to be straightforward and shoot from the hip, you will
become resentful, regretful, irritable and unhappy. This is
also why you need to be active, physical and engage in
sports and exercise to allow you to burn off some of that
intense energy.
In
the meantime, take out your aggressions in highly
competitive games,. By going solo, you can knock yourself
out rock climbing, roller-blading, or even hang gliding.
Attending spectator sports will be less effective, but you
could enjoy them and release some energy with your
enthusiastic reactions.
Aries
being the great initiators tend to never finish anything
completely because they are always off to the next
adventure as soon as the current crusade begins
to bore them.
You
are intellectual and objective rather than being emotional
or pragmatic. You take on crusades for lost causes and you
are the one to motivate the troops for that one last-ditch
effort. You are quick in your choices but sometimes
foolhardy and overly optimistic, lacking thoroughness and
the ability to evaluate difficulties in the undertakings
into which you often rush into impulsively. You need
to learn self-discipline early in life so that you don't
burn you and others out needlessly.
Like
a warrior Aries are excellent at strategy, probably from
all their past lives of military action. So stop and think
so that you can plot all your options more effectively
rather than impulsively rushing to decision. If you need to
prepare your attack (such as bringing a lawsuit if you feel
you've been wronged), outline the steps you'll take or list
the pros and cons. The sheer abundance of your Aries energy
can get in your way. Writing things down will force you to
slow up and think before acting.
Your
creativity tends to be more original, innovative and
groundbreaking. Your best avenue of expression is to
be the idea person, the one who inspires others to bring
the project to its conclusion while you are off
brainstorming new ideas for other projects.
Your
competitive nature gives you energy and an enormous will to
succeed in your professional endeavors. No matter what
financial hardships you endure, you remain dedicated in the
ultimate quest to be your own boss. Your sign is not
particularly materialistic, and because you tend to be so
focused on your goals, you are willing to make sacrifices
to achieve them. Just don't get so carried away with your
plan that you forget about the needs of your family or
loved ones. You can become so self-absorbed with your quest
for the Golden Fleece that you can forget all else and make
your personal life strained because of your tunnel
vision. You don’t want to end up at the finish line
alone, do you?
Aries
are leaders with a genuine concern for those they command.
You, however, do not make very good followers because of
your restless and impatient nature to just take over and
take charge, like a parent who can't wait for their child
to figure out how to do whatever. You are also belligerent
about taking orders when you see no reason for it, probably
a carry over of resentment when your father or teacher
tried to curb your exuberance in your childhood.
The
physical appearance is often of a strong, athletic body
with an abundance of nervous energy that is best released
through physical activity and competitive sports.
Many Aries have high foreheads and a reddish complexion or
red in their hair depicting the fire that is bursting from
their heads and many Aries men will have thinning of the
hair. But this is probably more from the high testosterone
levels in men that often causes a loss of hair.
Aries
governs the head and you are prone to head injuries and
headaches, particularly migraines, and depression. There
are two types of headaches that describe the Aries
personality as well as the two types of Aries.
There
is the more intellectual warrior type and the brute force
of the physical type. The first headache type occurs
for people who are about to give birth to some enormous
idea, event, relationship, or experience in their life. The
creativity may be swelling inside of them, bursting at the
seams, and they may have no apparent way
to release it.
The
second headache type is from that of Aries who possesses
fearlessness and courage but in the negative type it acts
out with a raging temper. This is the type who is
possessed of much anger and a bad temper. When enough
bad tempers have no outlet for release, you rage with
severe headaches.
As
an Aries, you like a challenge that will stir you to
action. This challenge may be frustration; but you may also
have a clear direction and know what or whom you're
fighting for. Without a direction in which to go, or a
without a cause to fight for, you would be quite lost and
frustrated, and probably picking fights just to stimulate
you back to your basic nature of the warrior.
The
symbol associated with your sign is the Ram.
Aries
is often like the battering ram, even those quiet and shy
types. Aries will barge in and make themselves a place in a
crowd or in a waiting line. But those types that are
fearless or even pushy in the outside world can be timid in
their personal lives. The Aries who is a battering
ram in career will often be a gentle lamb at home.
So
Aries you can batter your head against a brick wall (which
is the more immature type) or you can tune into the little
lamb within you and attain your goals more easily by gently
working with others instead of always coming on strong.
This takes patience and maturity to learn the difference
between what you can change, and what you cannot.
Philosophically
you are a visionary of grander, sweeping possibilities; a
free thinker and not one who gets locked into following
dogma unless you are the one leading others to follow your
dogma, but that eventually bores you and so you leave the
group behind and head for a private retreat and a solo
spiritual journey.
The
contented Aries is the person who comes to the realization
that the battles to be fought are ultimately with your self
and with this enlightenment an inner truce and peace of
mind can begin.
