Capricorn
and Aquarius in the Zodiac
Capricorn
is the goat of the zodiac and they are born December
21st
to
January 19th. This is an approximation because of the
irregular rotation of the earth and therefore not every
year will Capricorn begin exactly on the
21st
or even
end on the 19th.
When I
think of Capricorn what comes to mind is one of the most
stable and (mostly) serious signs of the zodiac. You are
normally self-confident, strong willed and calm. You
are often hardworking, unemotional, practical, responsible,
persevering, and cautious and capable of persisting for as
long as is necessary to accomplish a goal they have set for
yourselves. You are reliable workers in almost any
profession you undertake. You are the major finishers of
most projects started by the others and you quickly become
the backbone of any company that you work for rising to the
top.
The key
phrase for you is “I use” and many people misconstrue this
to mean that of a user and the social climber. But,
in defense of the Capricorn, I use means you are the
experts at using whatever available resources are at hand
and making use of them. In other words, like Martha
Stewart, they can see that a discarded egg carton, large
tin can, excess carpet pieces, whatever, that can be
utilized towards more efficient, and useful
productivity. And so, this “I use” talent works
incredibly well from running a business to figuring out how
to feed and clothe 5 kids on a very limited budget.
The
planet Saturn rules Capricorn and it’s image is very
conservative and not a lot of fun in astrological circles
and this is why Capricorn’s are associated with stiffness,
stuffiness, and rigidity and with a reputation for
coldness, materialism and perfectionism. A powerful need to
be in control and consequently the need to control others,
as to ensure the vision of the perfect world where nothing
out of control ever happens. But since we all know that
crap happens to the best of our intentions it’s the
Capricorn who can suffer the most because of their stiffer
expectations. So the answer is too simply learn the ways of
the willow tree and bend with the breeze rather being the
old oak that will try to survive all storms while it’s
branches keep breaking off, try to enjoy life instead of
always striving for perfectionism.
Saturn
represents the father figure in astrology who doesn’t want
to relinquish his power and control causing his children to
resent and fight for their rightful inheritance. And so,
many Capricorn’s will often feel that their father or their
bosses or authority in general keeps holding them back and
giving them no support. Many Capricorn’s have major issues
with their fathers.
Saturn
was the planet furthest away that could still be seen by
the naked eye until the 1700’s when the telescope was
invented. Prior to that man believed that Saturn
represented boundaries, limitations, and structures because
of its orbit furthest out from the rest of all the other
planets. And so where Saturn is in your chart, or
where you may have Capricorn planets placed, is often areas
in life where you feel limited, that you may have more of
the mountain to climb and so the phrase for Cap and that
area in everyone’s horoscope is that of “it’s never enough”
creating an area of insecurity and vulnerability. So where
ever Saturn is placed in everyone’s chart is the area of
one’s hardest lessons to face and conquer. And everyone has
a Saturn, a challenging mountain to climb.
Romantically
you are the marrying and monogamous type but you take it
all so seriously that you are often ill-at-ease and unhappy
because you take the whole love game so seriously.
Therefore you are cautious around people you do not know
very well, preferring not to meddle with others and in turn
not to allow interference from them. Others will often see
you as unapproachable, formal and aloof with an air of
distance.
Of
course, this couldn’t be further from the truth but you are
so uptight worrying about what others are thinking about
you that you don’t enjoy life as much as you could.
However, once in love you aren’t going to let go since you
seem to think you won’t get too many other chances but when
in love you turn into the young goat romping through the
fields as if intoxicated and deliriously happy. I
think Capricorn’s look younger the older they get because
they learn to mellow and then their appearance which had
been so serious and aging lightens up and finally a
youthfulness begins to appear.
Emotionally
you tend to take a parental, care-taking role in love. And
you are happiest when you are needed and appreciated.
There can be a tendency when your love life is empty or
troubled that you fall into pessimism, melancholy and even
unhappiness, which is pretty normal for many signs but the
goat with all your pragmatism can take loves ups and downs
more seriously than what you will let on to others or what
others would even assume.
When a
Capricorn matches up with another Capricorn it’s usually
more of a merger of practical concerns but certainly stable
and enduring but not very spontaneous or outwardly
passionate. You could make money with an Aquarius which
might appeal to your practical side but not very romantic;
Pisces is a good sign to help you dream and they certainly
are mentally stimulating but unless you let go it will turn
into a sisterly or brotherly love; Aries would be a good
sign to set up a home and family but if you don’t let the
Aries be themselves it would be better if the two of your
just went into the real estate business; Taurus will always
be your eternal lover and playmate; Gemini is too
complicated for Capricorn’s to settle into; Cancer is your
opposite sign and therefore a marriage partner; Leo’s would
make a better therapist than soul mate; you and Virgo’s
could travel the world in search of greener pastures; Libra
is a good sign for you and excellent for business except
your stiffness would push a romantic Libra away eventually;
Scorpio’s makes for excellent friendships which is great
basis for a marriage; and Sagittarius is your secret lover
and even the unrequited one’s.
You are
often built very solidly, thick, and with a serious
demeanor. But Caps have the last laugh on everyone
because even though they are born as very old souls, heavy,
serious, and rigid; the older they get the more the old
goat becomes the playful, young goat, and Cap will often
look much younger the older they get while the rest of us
start young and end old looking.
Capricorn’s
are the kings and queens of the words; I should of, could
have, ought to, and there is so little time and of course,
it’s never enough. You need to learn to let go of what you
think is acceptable and learn to relax and be your own
person. Let that goat out and play.
You
think profoundly and deeply, thoroughly exploring all
possibilities before deciding on a 'safe' plan of action.
You have good memories and a desire for continuing
knowledge. You are rational, logical, clearheaded, and you
have good concentration, but you can be stuck too long in
seriousness.
Another
unexpected quality in some Capricorns is an interest in the
occult, which persists in spite of your naturally skeptical
mind.
Like the
planet Saturn who circles the personal planets in the solar
system; Capricorn’s when entering a party or any large
social event or dance club will often need to circle the
area and scope out the territory before you decide how you
are going to interact with the group. You have this
secret fear that everyone is always judging you, since you
have this tendency within yourself to judge others, and so
before you can relax in a room full of strangers you need
to check out the environment before you can relax.
You make
few good friends but are intensely loyal to those you do
make. You will test the waters of affection before judging
the temperature is right for marriage. Once married,
however, you are faithful, though inclined to jealousy.
Most Capricorn’s marry for life.
The
spontaneous quality of the innovative, free spirit artist
is not the nature of Capricorn. The goat is so
focused on his expression not being accepted by the
hallmarks of tradition that originality is usually not a
word associated with the artistic Capricorn nor is the word
artistic.
To be
useful with your creativity makes you most
comfortable. The fine artist is not so much the
impetus for success as is going for the more practical
accomplishments of the architect, the designer, decorator,
landscaper, or commercial artist. Your life choices are
always highly influenced with the need for purpose.
One of your favorite lines is; what’s the purpose, if there
is no purpose why bother.
Material
success is an important measure of success for the
goal-driven mountain goat, who are determined to make it to
the top. Goats never give up their relentless
struggle and with often the philosophy that the means
justify the ends.
Certainly,
you are action-oriented. Yet while tap-dancing faster can
make you feel better, the danger is that you can get so
lost in busywork that you lose sight of the bigger picture.
When
practical ability applied with the drive of ambition are
required in employees to make a project succeed, Capricorns
are the people to hire. You plan carefully to fulfill
your ambitions, you are economical without meanness, and
able to achieve great results with minimum effort and
expense. Because of your organizing ability you are able to
work on several projects simultaneously.
You have
a great respect for authority but may not, if you reach
high rank, be willing to listen to other opinions on things
you are directly responsible for. As the ranking authority
figure in a given situation you expect your underlings to
be as self disciplined as you are, and to perform every
task undertaken to the highest standard. They are,
nevertheless, fair as well as demanding.
Your
occupations can include most professions that have to do
with math or money. They can be economists, financiers,
bankers, speculators, contractors, managers and real estate
brokers. You excel as bureaucrats, especially where
projects demanding long-term planning and working are
concerned. You are excellent teachers, especially as
principals of educational establishments.
Capricorn
rules the knees, the skin, and skeleton. Remember that your
rigid personality is what stiffens up your body and can
cause problems from acne in youth to arthritis in your
later years. So just relax the body, mind and spirit;
in other words, give the goat equal playtime.
Since
stiffness in joints could be a problem even when Capricorns
are young, you need to keep exercising to stay limber.
Knees could be your weakest body part, so don't overstrain
them.
Capricorn
is one sign that enjoys working, and when faced with
stress, your instincts tell you to work harder, longer and
with more focused intensity. Your ruler, Saturn, causes you
to take responsibility to the max. But all this stress can
have adverse effects to the body. Therefore, put play
and going to the gym on that schedule of yours.
The
symbol associated with your sign is the mountain goat.
The
mountain goat is a sure-footed, independent creature than
can hold his own when maneuvering the rough terrain of
climbing to the top of the mountain. You can persist
in all types of weather and dangerous obstacles with a
determination to attain your goals getting to the top with
a practical, pragmatic plan of action. But the goat
was also a symbol for wild sexuality in ancient times and
so deep within this serious, goal oriented goat is a
passionate and sensual side waiting to come out but only
after the goal is in site so the goat can relax and let
loose. And so the conservative exterior of the goat
also has a burning sexual interior when tapped.
The goat
was known as sexually obsessive, and many astrologers know
that Capricorn people usually do have a wildly sexual,
personality lurking underneath that reserved, conservative
exterior. The goat in ancient times was symbolic of
sexual license and freedom, like the god Pan. And an
interesting note, when Cap’s become paranoid, fearing that
they are loosing control they are prone to “panic attacks”
and the word panic is derived from the quality of Pan
getting drunk and loosing all control.
Capricorn’s
philosophy and general character that just about permeates
their every decision is that of being concerned about what
everyone else thinks of their actions, for they think they
are always being judged. However, behind this anxiety
is a great integrity and need to do the best job they
possibly can perform and to attain the respect of their
contemporaries. What the world ends up with is an
individual who truly follows the golden rule, which makes
this planet a better place to live.
