Sagittarius is the Centaur of the zodiac and you are born
November 23rd
through
December 21st. This is an approximation because of
the irregular rotation of the earth and therefore not every
year will Sagittarius begin exactly on the 23rd or even end
on the 21st.
When I
think of Sagittarians what comes to mind is a person with a
positive outlook on life, full of energy, athletic ability,
adventurousness and a love of traveling and exploration. In
fact Sagittarius has a lust for travel and the further away
and more exotic, the better!
You are
basically optimistic, and continue to be so even when your
hopes are dashed. You are the sign of honesty, integrity,
and independence with a passion for justice and the rights
of others. Consequently so many of you are involved
with legal affairs and political activism.
The key
phrase associated with Sagittarius is “I perceive,”
referring to your intuitive abilities and your vision for a
better world and your longing to search the planet for
greener pastures and the inner search for meaning in life.
Sagittarius
has always been known as the lucky sign of the zodiac,
whether in gambling or just everyday life. Your luck
probably stems from your optimism and belief in the future
that creates your lucky nature.
In love,
Sagittarius needs lots of sex and sports but you also have
an equal need for an intellectual partner. Nothing spoils a
relationship faster for a Sagittarius than a sense of
claustrophobia. So forget all the neediness and
dependencies when dating a Sagittarius, it won’t fly.
Sagittarians
are passionate, sincere and straightforward in love.
If your marriages are successful, you will be faithful
spouses; but your innate restlessness will inspire you to
travel to find your own private space, both mentally and
physically. You need to feel free and are often faced with
the choice of allowing your careers to take over your lives
at the expense of love. This dual nature, and the
eternal thorn in your side often create a dilemma between
career versus relationship. Sagittarian women, even
if you have no career to rival your love, find it difficult
to express affection since you are so much more mental than
emotional, more independent then dependent, and therefore
the duality could be between your desires for a
relationship versus your desire for freedom. And of course,
men can also fall into this trap just as easy as the women.
When a
Sagittarian matches up with another Sagittarian there needs
to be the basis of a close friendship first, who also loves
to be active physically, sexually and has a passion for
travel and ideas. If these ingredients aren’t there along
with a healthy respect for space and separate lives it will
not last long. Capricorn’s and you are very, very
different but you two could get along with a common goal of
making money, Aquarians will stimulate you mentally and
give you a run for your money when it comes to freedom and
travel but often this combination stays for mentally
stimulating than physically; Pisces will want to set up a
home and family but you two absolutely need to be mature
and ready for a long term commitment; Aries will always be
your eternal lover and playmate; Taurus will ground you but
the match will never feel equal which could work if the
Taurus played the role of the grown-up and the Sag excepted
the role of the child; Gemini is your opposite sign
therefore your marriage partner; Cancer will push all your
buttons and cause you to rethink your life which is great
except it’s too heavy for the long haul for you; you and
Leo’s will want to travel the world in search of new ideas;
Virgo’s would make good business partners and if you both
had strong common goals it could work out in a marriage;
Libra’s makes your best friends and which is the perfect
basis for a marriage; and Scorpio works best as a secret
lover but too complicated for a lifetime.
Emotionally
Sagittarius needs lots of freedom, space and intellectual
stimulation. Your restlessness, if excessive, can
jeopardize more than your own stability. For some
Sagittarians risk becoming amorous players, wasting your
lives away in frivolous pursuits. And on the flip side of
that coin, some of you can develop a moralizing, religious
fanaticism. But usually your nature of fairness and concern
for the welfare of others keeps you mostly charming,
friendly, easy going and honest, even if it’s a little too
honest at times.
Even
though you are usually very easy going, you can be
impulsively angry and you know how to be outspoken, direct
and to say exactly what will hurt your opponent most. On
the other hand you are very forgiving.
Sagittarius
is also called the Archer. Another quality is their love of
the great outdoors and nature and you may hunt animal game,
but only for the sport and never the kill.
You can
be comfortable in the wilds of nature or the civilized
urban settings and with your love of freedom and travel you
often seem as if you have one foot out the door, ready to
bolt to ensure your freedom.
Being a
Sagittarius almost guarantees that you'll excel in at least
one sport. More Olympic champions are Sagittarius than any
other sign. Equestrian sports are popular for your sign
because of your symbol of the Centaur: half man, half
horse, so you and horses share a special affinity.
Sagittarius rules travel, so running, jogging, hiking,
camping, rock climbing, canoeing--anything that will keep
you in locomotion—keeps you stimulated.
There
isn't a sport you wouldn't try and because you intuitively
feel the link between body and mind (man and horse) you
regularly seek ways to strengthen both. And because
you have so much energy you will need some sort of regular
exercise to keep from going completely mental.
Sagittarius
is great because you always tell the truth, but sometimes
hearing the unforgiving truth can be tough on the rest of
us. You have no sense of diplomacy, so if someone asks for
your opinion, you will give it! Which explains the clique
for Sagittarius; open mouth – insert foot.
You love
to initiate new projects and you have an urge to understand
concepts that are new to you. You think rapidly, often
intuitively and always original. You are strong-willed and
good at organizing, a combination that gives you the
ability to bring any project you undertake to a successful
conclusion. You have both a deep and curious mind, with
foresight and good perception, and therefore you can be a
great conversationalist.
Creatively
the Sagittarius loves the broad brushstrokes of life, the
large canvases or using the entire world as a sounding
board by publishing books, producing films, designing
ambitious ad campaigns, or whatever medium that ignores the
small details and goes for the big picture. Sags want their
messages also be upbeat, enthusiastic, and clear and
honest.
Being
that your sign rules the world of ideas, cultures, exotic
foreign locations and spreading information; you are
natural teachers, journalists, lecturers, philosophers,
lawyers, judges, crusaders and religious leaders. Travel
and exploration appeal to your restless souls and if you
weren’t trained as an archeologist you could be tempted to
work as a travelling salesman. There is a gambling,
adventurous streak in many of you which is great for
occupations in high risk speculation like that of the black
jack dealer, and of course, the world of horses.
Sagittarius
rules the thighs, hips and liver. When Sagittarians
feel restricted they feel wounded. Many Sagittarians
or those with a strong Sagittarius planetary aspect will
have a scar in the thigh or hip area. But the symbolism
goes deeper in that often at some point in the Sag life,
they will feel as if they have a thorn in their side, or
even a deep, emotional wound that they always have to carry
during their lifetime, as did Chiron. This wound or
thorn could be with a relationship or child that you can’t
let go of but is a constant source of irritation. But this
aggravation could be a real health concern; such as a limp,
or liver condition or lower back pain because of a tilted
hip.
As you
are often the sportsmen indulging in dangerous pursuits,
you are prone to accidents. The taking of risks in many
sports is a danger to the modern Sagittarian.
During
the month of Sagittarius the world is deep into winter,
frozen, quiet and still. This a time to gather around
the hearth and tell stories, a time for philosophical
reflection and so one of the attributes of the Centaur is
that of the wise philosopher. The Sag period marks the last
month of the year when the nights are longer and the days
are shorter because this pattern shifts direction with the
beginning of the next sign of Capricorn. And so these
two signs that have winter in common are very different.
The nights are longer indicating more internal, reflective
concerns of the masses, whereas, Capricorn is when the days
are beginning to grow longer and the emphasis is shifting
more towards the personal individual instead of the
Sagittarius stage which is more concerned with universal
principals. This is also why Sagittarius has a tendency to
see the bigger picture for the good of all but also missing
the important details that is needed to secure their own
personal lives. Sagittarius lives for the greater
good of humanity more than for selfish motives.
The
symbol associated with your sign is the Centaur, half man
and half horse. The Archer and the Centaur are the
symbols of Sagittarius.
The
Centaur also held a bow and arrow, which is where the
symbolism for the archer is derived. The arrow is always
pointed upward towards the heavens like the gaze of those
who have their head in the clouds being more concerned with
a greater philosophical vision, another quality of the
Sagittarius.
The
centaur was half horse and half man. The animal side of the
Sagittarius is a need for freedom and to have their
instinctual desires fulfilled. The divine part of
Sagittarius, the head of man, will use their rational mind
to conquer and control this animal nature.
Faithfulness
is a concern for many Sagittarians. They can be quietly
committed with the current lover, but the issue is how long
can they sustain this commitment before they need to move
on. Sagittarians are the world travelers, the eternal
students, a sign that is always searching for something
else, a longing for greener pastures. This is a quest
for the meaning of life and since another human being
represents imperfections and limitations eventually the
Sagittarius has to spread their wings and search for
another adventure that will allow their souls to soar. The
Peter Pan syndrome of never wanting to grown up and settle
down is often seen in the Sagittarius who’s animal side is
stronger than their sophisticated human side.
In
ancient myths the Centaur was shot into thigh, one of the
body parts ruled by Sagittarius. But the Centaur was
a god and could not die so there was this eternal wound in
his thigh. Many Sagittarians have some sort of an
eternal wound; such as a wife, child, job, obligations that
they cannot escape. It’s referred to as the pain in their
side that never goes away and many will have a physical
scar, usually in the thigh area, that will always be there
symbolizing this eternal wound.
