Scorpio and Libra in the Zodiac

Scorpio is known as the Scorpion of the zodiac and you are born October 24th through November 22nd.  This is an approximation because of the irregular rotation of the earth and therefore not every year will Scorpio begin exactly on the 24th or even end on the 22nd.

When I think of Scorpio what comes to mind is one who is determined, shrewd, protective, jealous, and powerful.  You are a sign prone to obsession, and the Scorpion is not casual about anything, from your career to your love life.

The key phrase associated with your sign is “I desire,” and this about sums it up. Because your desire nature compels you to be powerful, driven, successful and sexually alluring.  But you often have an inner battle to keep your instinctive desires from taking over your rational thinking.

Scorpio is associated with the descent into the underworld.  For most of us, this signifies a journey to the very depths of our being – a journey that is inevitably painful, for it forces us to confront our inner demons and psychological complexes.  But Scorpio also holds out the promise of resurrection, of returning to the light, thus Scorpio is regarded as the sign of transformation. You typically experience a death or near-death experience, only to be reborn, like the phoenix, rising from the ashes of your former selves and soaring to new heights.

Much has been written about how sexy and sensual Scorpio’s are.  To you sex is very important, and it would be impossible for you to have a happy relationship without great sex. Scorpio’s are passionate lovers, the most energetic of all the signs. 

Your main objective in loving is to merge beyond yourselves and to lose yourselves sexually in your partners, to a level of magic and therefore you are ultimately looking for a soul mate as well as a lover. You are capable of the greatest heights of passion, but you can also lose yourself in the pure pleasures of the flesh, and Scorpio’s can become machines of sensuality and eroticism when they lose that intimate or spiritual connection. Your feelings are so intense that even when your love is of the highest, and most idealistic kind, it can still shift into a melodrama of great highs and lows.

In matters of love the one thing that is most true to your sign is this total rapture or celibacy. Everything about your nature is extreme and when it comes to the affairs of the heart you will open more than any sign initially but if you get too hurt too many times you can completely turn off and become celibate. This is because you have a powerful controlling nature and when you call it quits, it’s dead.  So even if you had been deeply in love when it’s over you could walk by them on the street without flinching much less acknowledging.  One should never betray a Scorpio because they don’t forget and they will get even if it takes 20 years.

When a Scorpio matches up with another Scorpio and there is a mutual respect and maturity the passion will be unbelievable but usually this arrangement is difficult because you know each other’s tricks and insecurities and it often become a power struggle for control; Sagittarius and you are much too different but it could be hot for a while and you two could make money together; Capricorn is a great sign for you but they may not have the heat you dream about in a great love affair; Aquarians will set up a home with you and the romance can be intense but there is this control issue again; Pisces are your eternal lovers and playmates; Aries are the one you should avoid because you will never understand them; Taurus is your opposite sign and therefore your marriage partner; Gemini will drive you crazy but if you can remain calm they can help change your life; you will want to travel the globe with Cancers; Leos are your match romantically but if you don’t have the same life goals it will burn out; Virgos make great friendships which is the perfect basis for a long term love affair; and Libras will be your secret or unrequited love affair.

Physically your bodies are very strong and resistant to many of the ills of other signs. Your eyes are often deep, piercing and intimidating and often they would fall into the category of what we call “bedroom eyes.”  Just about everything part of your physical aura oozes sexuality even when by traditional benchmarks others wouldn’t call you attractive you still attract sex like bees to honey.

You are gifted in your strong reasoning powers with imagination and intuition, and these gifts, together with critical perception and analytical capacity, can enable the Scorpions to penetrate beyond the average.

Your sign has the potential for being a genius, more than any other sign, only because of your obsessive driven focus into whatever compels you. 

At the other extreme is the procrastinator, the Scorpio who is capable of so much that you do nothing and become lazy and self-indulgent.  Probably because you become so overwhelmed with what you see that has to be done that to get from here to there that it causes you to shut down.

Scorpio’s are the most intense, profound, and powerful characters in the zodiac. But in everyday social gatherings you are usually very pleasant and low key to be with, intelligent in conversation, reserved, and very friendly and courteous.

You usually give the appearance of being withdrawn or aloof from the usual drama in everyday life, yet those who know you will recognize your keen observational abilities in that you don’t miss a clue; it’s just that you don’t say anything. Your motto is life can be summed up in the clique that revenge is a dish best served cold, and with you it is so true.  You just register everything and say nothing until you can use it to your best advantage. And therefore in business you can be very successful because of this incredible ability to always keeping a poker face until you lay down your winning cards.

Many Scorpio artists have used eroticism and sexuality as their signature but usually there is a sense of taboo, the dark, deep, and the exploring of the hidden mysteries of mankind.  You will usually never see the art expression of a Scorpio being light, colorful and fun but mostly brooding, thought provoking, sometimes shocking and always intensely emotional.

You can find success in many employments being that you are so gifted. Any profession in which analysis, investigation, research, dealing with monies, and the solving of mysteries are relevant, can appeal to them. So police and detective work, espionage, the law, medicine or psychology may attract you.

Power driven is a major component of your life and when it comes to career and money your obsessive drives can make many of you millionaires.  However, for the un-evolved Scorpio, this relentless drive for power can also create a ruthlessness whereupon with a cold and calculating mindset you will do whatever it takes to get your goals accomplished regardless of the pain to could  inflict upon another. But whatever approach you take your intensity causes you to give it a 100% commitment.

Delegating responsibilities to others has never been your strong point.  Yes you can do it all but often with stress related ailments; such as with migraine headaches.

Scorpio governs the pelvis and reproductive systems. When your body stresses out these are the vulnerable areas that are usually affected.  One of the most incredible qualities of your sign is the regenerative ability of your sign. Everything from love to health is extreme in you and so many of you have died on the operating table and come back to life to the surprise of your doctors.  Diseases that destroy other signs somehow seem to be beaten back with your powerful mindset and physical abilities to turn just about anything around to your benefit. It’s as if you can look death in the face and laugh which somehow keeps you fit and healthy.

I have seen an interesting theme in the lives of Scorpio’s whereupon there appears to be three elements going on within their psyche instead of the usual two.  Most other signs have a public side and a private personal side except with Scorpio’s there is this third dimension, I call the shadow,  that intimidates others.  In childhood this mysterious side used to intimidate the Scorpio until they realized that this strange energy they don’t understand seems to have a power over other signs and that is when many Scorpio’s started using this mysterious power to manipulate others.  The more evolved Scorpio’s have used this same energy for healing others with psychology, to medicine, or even with shamanic powers.

Because you are able to recognize these qualities in yourself that make you different from others, you need great self-discipline, to know your talents can be used for great good, or great evil. Your tenacity and willpower are legend, your depth of character and conviction inspiring, yet you are also deeply sensitive, kind and easily moved by your emotions.

Your sensitivity, together with your extreme likes and dislikes make you easily hurt, quick to detect insult or injury to yourselves (even when you are just being paranoid) and easily aroused to rage.  And your hurt and pains may express itself in words that could kill or action that cause lifelong enemies, for you find it difficult not to be overly critical of anything or anyone to whom you take a dislike but also fiercely loyal to anyone you love, just don’t betray the love of a Scorpio, remember how they love revenge best served cold.

And you do, however, make excellent friends, provided that your companions do nothing to impugn the honor of which Scorpios are very jealous.

Scorpio is symbolized with the Scorpion, the Serpent as well as the Eagle, or the rare Phoenix.  Small creatures like scorpions and serpents are often the most dangerous because men and larger animals are unable to readily see them.  And because of their poison, stepping on them accidentally could be fatal.

The eagle is said to be a higher symbol for Scorpio than the scorpion and serpent and to represent the more highly evolved souls similar to the Phoenix. 

But the final and most evolved type of Scorpio is a rare bird, the phoenix.  The Phoenix has been through the fire this lifetime.  Sometimes the fire is a difficult childhood illness or an emotional wound – the death of a loved one but instead of becoming bitter, cynical and vengeful like the Serpent or even the Eagle, they pass through the crisis and resurrects themselves from the ashes and as a result of their trauma they go through a conversion experience. It is through inner transformation that we discover wisdom.  And Scorpio is consequently a sign of wisdom.

Pluto is the ruling planet of Scorpio and in mythology he was the god of the underworld. When Pluto was discovered in 1930, not only had the planet revealed itself but it was as if the god with the same name that had been banished to the underworld of the dead came bursting once again into the consciousness of the world. This was one of the darkest times in man’s history.  The atom bomb was being developed for mass destruction, dictators were taking over the civilized world, a great depression was gripping the economies of all countries and the Mafia bosses were implementing their own terror and control. But also one other type of plutonian underworld element was emerging, and that was the psychology of Freud, Adler and Jung.

Because Scorpio is a deeply spiritual sign, and you often have an understanding and interest in other religions. Your sign rules the cycles of birth-and death, and therefore Scorpios are closer to life's beginnings and endings. Scorpio’s may not understand these great mysteries but you certainly aren’t afraid of them since you are faced with these forces on an everyday occurrence. But you certainly have the potential to make great role models for others on how to persevere and survive life’s challenges.
