Taurus is known as the Bull of the zodiac and are born
between April 21st
to May
21st. This is an approximation because of the
irregular rotation of the earth and therefore not every
year will Taurus begin exactly on the 21st or even end on
the 21st.
When
I think of Taurus, what comes to mind is a strong
sensuality and a personality that likes to initially plod
along cautiously and conservatively.
The
Bull is known for coming across as solid, practical,
determined and stubborn and that no one will ever drive
them, but they will willingly and loyally follow a leader
they trust. You have a respect for property and a
horror of falling into debt, and you will do everything in
your power to maintain the security of the
status
quo for change makes you nervous.
The
key words that best describes Taurus is the phrase “I have”
which basically means that you have a nature to own and
possess whatever you think is yours; from relationships to
material goods. How I have seen this trait in just about
every Taurus is the quality of never liking to let go of
anything that they have previously invested any time or
energy and especially money.
Emotionally
you are best described with the proverb “Beware of the
anger of a patient man.” A volcano does not erupt
immediately but builds up over the years, and then
explodes. This is the Taurus personality on all
levels; slow to begin, will not be rushed, can be lead but
not pushed and then look out, whether it’s reaching a
successful goal or getting angry.
If
you are provoked, however, you can explode into violent
outbursts of ferocious anger in which you seem to lose all
self-control, like the bull seeing red. But you are more
inclined to harmony, peace, and compromise with a strong
dose of charm and graciousness. Again, don’t forget
the inertia quality or the slow boil trait because if you
keep trying to approach life emotionally with all kindness
and generosity without a balance of reality you will be
allowing resentments to slowly develop until you can no
longer keep the lid on and off you will go seeing RED.
Many
Taurus can be fairly hedonistic, pleasure-seeking bulls,
having the most love affairs, and enjoying the finer things
in life from jewelry, indulging in rich foods to being
pampered. You also have many fine artistic abilities. The
artistic achievements of your sign are noteworthy in music
and especially singing since Taurus also rules the throat
and neck of the body. Many opera singers have a
Taurus sun sign, as does Barbra Striesand, Shirley
Maclaine, and the late Fred Astaire. Shakespeare was a
Taurus, and he was one of the greatest creative writers in
English literature.
A
famous story of King Midas and the Golden Touch symbolizes
the extreme aspects of Taurus. He was the
pleasure-loving King whose sole ambition in life was to
attain gold. When his wish was granted, it became a
curse. Everything turned to gold he touched,
including his clothing, food and daughter. This story
taught the true values of life are not material but of
love. And that is the dilemma that many younger Taurus must
learn to bring balance into your lives.
When
it comes to love, you are amorous and romantic, but
sexually you are more conventional and not given to
experiment as much because you like your routine in just
about every area of your life.
When
a Taurus matches up with another Taurus it probably was
very slow and steady with a 7 year courtship and you
probably got married, not from a great passion but more
from the relationship feeling like a comfortable old shoe
and besides you got used to each other. Now this
doesn’t sound all that romantic on paper but as far as a
marriage goes this merger could last a lifetime.
Aries tend to be more secret or unrequited love affairs;
Pisces often make great friends which also makes for
a great partner; Aquarians and you very different but if
you have a common goal it could work; and you will want to
travel the globe in search of paradise with a Capricorn;
Sagittarians will cause you to rethink your life which is a
powerful growth opportunity but usually not one you want to
take; Scorpio is your opposite and therefore marriage
partner; Libra is hot, sizzling and short term; Virgo will
always be your eternal lover, Leo will set up house with
you even though you two are very different; a love like a
brother or sister will form with Cancers; and better you
stay with a financial relationship with a Gemini.
You
make constant, faithful, and home loving spouses. You can
be overly possessive, however because you don’t want anyone
taking what is yours, and you don’t like change so you
would rather keep an difficult relationship rather than go
through the hassle of starting over again with a new
partner, and besides, you don’t like fighting so the Bull
will often put off a necessary marriage counseling session
or even the thought of a separation because of this need to
avoid conflict as much as possible.
It
takes forever for the Taurus to commit and then it takes
even longer for them to let go. Your sign represents the
principal of attraction and therefore you have a strong
physical magnetism. And so Taurus energy is not sexually
aggressive like an Aries but prefers to attract others to
you rather than you pursue them.
The
Taurus will need to see tangible evidence of your love
because of your practical earth nature, earth needs to see
it, feel it or taste to believe it -- and so that means
letters, flowers, fragrances and gifts, and not just that
occasional word of love being thrown indiscriminately.
There is no getting around this. You are one of the most
loving and affectionate of all signs, certainly one of the
most sensuous, and quite a catch.
But
when a Taurus wants to show affection to another you often
feel that words spoken is not enough and so the Bull will
buy or make something to show physically with tangible
evidence that your words of love are backed up with
sustenance. However, Taurus expects you to express
your love for them with a concrete gift that is worthy of
your words and the more expensive it is the more you must
love them. Never forget that every Taurus has a
certain degree of materialism within them that needs
to be satisfied.
You
are dedicated and generous with your friends having a great
capacity for affection, but you rarely make friends with
anyone too different than yourself, to which you are very
faithful to a fault. It’s that practical earth thing again.
Your
body tends to be very strong and solid and many Bulls will
be stocky with broad shoulders and sometimes even have a
broad forehead resembling the bull.
I
have always described the physical dynamics of Taurus as
the sign of inertia. This simply means that energies
at rest tend to stay at rest and energies in motion tend to
stay in motion. Therefore many Taurus will work hard
and even play hard at the same time but when you stop for a
rest or from exhaustion it then takes a long time to get
you off the couch and back into the rat race. Or it takes
forever to motivate you to the gym but once you are in your
routine you are like a dog with a bone working those
muscles everyday until you stop and then its back to the
couch.
Routine
is the hallmark of the Bull. While you are not a sign known
for flexibility,
your tenacity and reliability will more than compensate.
So, don't expect a Taurus to understand when plans change
at the last minute. They don’t turn on a dime and this is
something you will simply have to accept. And if you
want to have any influence on their thinking, be sure to
get your ideas across in early before they are forming
another locked-in opinion. Taurus can be quite stubborn!
Mentally,
you are practical more often than intellectual, but you are
apt to become stubborn and stuck in your opinions through
your preference for following a routine of a tried and true
path. Many bulls are relentless in their natures. But you
are generally dependable, determined, and unshaken in the
face of difficulties.
You
enjoy art, for which you may have a talent. Along
with your love for all things beautiful is a love for the
good things of life, pleasure, comfort, luxury and good
food and wine and you may have to resist the temptation to
over indulgence, spending too much money and gaining to
much weight. It’s that bull lying under the shade
tree all day that is the problem.
Taurus
are industrious and good craftspeople, and are not afraid
of getting their hands dirty. Taurus rules the domain of
money in the horoscope making the bull a good provider,
investor and businessperson but also the Taurus can get too
caught up in the material world. Taurus works for money,
security, and the ability to shop for the best quality. But
remember that you love the finer things in life and the
earth aspect makes Taurus needing material and physical
security and all the money to sustain the lifestyle.
Becoming too materialistic can be one of your greatest
shortcomings.
Before
making any investments, you look for practical and logical
reasons before taking action, and you put a great deal of
emphasis on careful, painstaking research. You dislike
quick decision-making and prefer careful deliberation,
because you invest for the long haul. Decision-making, for
you is a careful process. Taurus needs to carefully
consider all the options and weigh each for practicality.
Taurus
governs the throat and neck and you need to beware of
throat infections. Because your body type has an
inclination to physical laziness, Taureans can also be
overweight.
So because of your slow to change nature, don’t even bother
trying to be radical with dieting, Taurus. If you allow
yourself to feel deprived sooner or later The Bull will see
red! And you will binge. The trick is to gradually make
healthy changes in your diet so that you keep your
enthusiasm--and your metabolism--high. And gradually work
your way into an exercise program. In fact, whether giving
up an addition; like smoking or chocolate, or trying to
begin a major new phase of life; like moving or marriage;
give yourself permission to take it slow because the Taurus
personality is like a stretching rubber band and if you
pull too fast, sooner or later, that rubber band is going
to snap back hard and fast.
The
symbol associated with your sign is the Bull.
Taurus
is the sensuous, gentle bull lying around the fields all
day looking for comfort, and eating and sleeping preferably
under the shade of a tree. When its time to get the bulls
back into the barn at the end of the day there is no
budging them, and so you push very gently with the bull
because their anger can be a slow boil and after awhile
there aggravation can become greater than their need for
comfort because when the bull sees red and starts
snorting and stumping and that is when you had better get
out of the way and don’t take for granted that the bull
will never attack because that is their last signal that
you had better let them alone or else. And when the bull
finally gets mad he or she will attack.
It
takes a lot to get a Taurus ruffled, but once done, the
magnitude of the bull's temper can appear full force and
just about anyone in their way could bear the brunt of it.
The
Age of Taurus was approximately 4000 to 2000BC and during
that period the Egyptians carved the symbol of the bull
into all their temples.
And
so it was during the Taurean Age that the Bull was
worshipped, and agriculture began to flourish on a more
sophisticated level with farming communities. And Taurus
today likes to get their hands into the dirt with gardening
to show off their green thumbs.
Taurus
is in harmony when it lives it life in accordance to the
seasons. Because Taurus is a fixed sign and doesn’t always
flow easily with the changing seasons, it often gets stuck
in life. Wanting fruit to bloom in winter isn’t going
to make it happen. Patience and the inner knowledge
that ‘to everything there is a season’ is Taurus greatest
gift. Your slowness can be exasperating at times but the
final outcome teaches us the genius in letting things
unfold when they are ready and not
before.
