Virgo is known as the Virgin for those born August 23 to
September 23. This is an approximation because of the
irregular rotation of the earth and therefore not every
year will Virgo begin exactly on the 23rd or even end on
the 23rd.
When I think of Virgo what comes to mind is perfection.
Virgo people tend to collect, study and analyze the facts
and all the details before making any important decisions.
The key phrase best describing you is “I analyze,” because
your mind perceives every little detail, studies it and
then forms a critical assessment.
Virgo’s
desire is to reach the highest possible perfection, not
only in yourselves, but for those around you which can make
you a little demanding at work and relationships. Since you
are able to see all the details of a situation with the
eyesight of a hawk, you have a sense of what needs to be
accomplished to exact specifications and so with this
perfectionist mindset or at least the desire to attain
perfection, you often feel inadequate and inferior with the
results of your goals. Nothing is as perfect as what
you envision.
You
have an excellent eye for detail but you may be so
meticulous that you neglect larger issues. Also, although
you are realists, you may slow down projects by being too
exact. You are practical with your hands, good technicians
and you have an eye for innovation, and if things go wrong,
you are easily discouraged. Because of your ability to see
every angle of a many-sided question, you are unhappy with
abstractions. Appreciating the many different points of
view as you do, you find philosophical concepts
difficult. Remember you are a down to earth,
practical realist and not one who likes to ponder concepts
for that is just another foreign language to Virgos.
When
it comes to love you have just as much burning desire as
the next sign but you are so selective and discriminating
that many see you as aloof and distant. You are so
busy checking potential partners out mentally instead of
from your feelings that it seems as though you are not
connecting so easily or quickly as other signs.
However, in looking for the perfect mate in your analytical
ways you tend to figure out your feelings in your head
instead of your heart. But when the right soul mate comes
along you will be swept off your feet because of your need
to find the perfect partner you will believe that your
chosen one is perfect. And it will take a truck to
run over you to ever change your strong mind that the one
you chose is not perfect. And being that you are a
practical and conservative earth sign you will be loyal and
devoted.
When
a Virgo matches up with another Virgo the intensity can be
mind-blowing especially since it would be a sexual battle
of wits; loving a Leo will be more quiet and harmonious;
friendship and hanging with friends with a Cancer; common
goals and a business partnership with Gemini; traveling the
globe searching for greener pastures with Taurus; Aries
will push your buttons but allow for major emotional
changes; marriage and union with your opposite sign Pisces;
Aquarius can be hot as long as you allow each other
separate lives; your constant lover will be Capricorn; you
and Sagittarius want to set up a family, Scorpio will
mentally stimulate you and with Libra you may be stressing
over money but when the cash is good so is the lovemaking.
One
of my early astrology teachers was a Virgo and who taught
me that Virgo’s put relationships into concentric circles.
The outer circles are relegated to the people you most
interact with but with no emotional connection. And
so there is the inner circle of loved ones, the next circle
of close friendships, the next circle of acquaintances and
so forth. The point of the analogy is that the outer
circles never receive the criticism that the inner circle
people do. So if you happen to fall in love with a Virgo
you may have to start taking stock of your faults because
your Virgo lover will definitely point them out.
Your
creative talents tend to be more intellectual, detailed,
designed, and well-thought out. These qualities lend
itself towards architecture, engineering, writing, fashion
design and all types of craftsmanship. One interesting note
with many Virgo artists is with their penchant for detail
many of them love to work in miniature or with very precise
and detailed designs on a smaller scale than usual.
Virgo's
real satisfaction lies in your work and service. You are
the best workers of the zodiac. Your greatest fault
is in being too critical on yourselves. You are
careful with money and your interest in the details of
statistics makes you excellent bookkeepers and accountants.
You also make good editors, mathematicians and secretaries.
If
you go in for a business career your shrewdness and
analytical ingenuity could tempt some of you into
dishonesty, although you usually have enough moral sense to
resist temptation.
Your
biggest talents are masterminding organizations that would
overwhelm anyone else and concentrating no matter what
distractions come your way. Highly goal-oriented, few
things will deter you from finishing what you've
started--you are no quitter. You may get so involved in
detail that you miss the long view of things. So step back
now and then and reassess your assumptions. See if you can
delegate some of your work. This is often hard for Virgo to
do, but you will free up lots of time, as well as
off-load some daily pressure!
But
you are laughing all the way to the bank, so don't change
your ways one bit. You do demand value for your money,
however, simply because you are such a workaholic. Wasting
your hard-earned cash is the last thing you want to do.
Most
of all, you enjoy indulging your practical and logical side
and pouring over your projects to the nth degree. To say
Virgo’s are good at fact-finding almost understates the
case, since you excel in your exacting behavior. Virgins
are an asset in the workplace as you can be counted on to
get things right the first time, every time -- and no
detail will be overlooked.
Your
discernment mindset also serves Virgins well in business,
where your decisions are usually dead-on. A Virgo likes to
keep busy and productive. In an average day you do the work
of two people... or more! Learn to delegate chores
and responsibilities. And allow for the fact that
people will always do things on their schedule (not yours)
and "perfectly clean" anything isn't always possible.
Virgo's
are extremely health conscious, to the point of being
storehouses of information on diet and hygiene. Many
Virgo's even choose a health or medical career so they
won't miss a beat Balancing mind and body is central
to the Virgo journey. Virgo's prefer to focus on one thing
at a time, to compartmentalize life. For example,
Virgo's who are concentrating on their studies at school
will often neglect their body in favor of the mind. Without
balance Virgo's stay fragmented and irritable and always
recognizing in themselves how much more work needs to be
accomplished.
Virgo
governs the intestines and central nervous system.. Your
nature make you inclined to worry and this makes you
vulnerable to stomach and bowel troubles, including ulcers.
Virgo’s have delicate stomachs that require you to be
careful about your diet. You are nervous and jittery
and your mind has a direct bearing on your health. So you
are often prone to psychosomatic illnesses. You can also
become hypochondriacs if you become too self-centered and
anxious about your bodies. Nervous tension gives your
body a hard time.
Meditation
and an exercise program that emphasizes total-body
relaxation and proper alignment will appeal to your
perfectionist tendencies. Fortunately for you, Virgo,
you tend to stay slim but usually because of your highly
nervous reactions to everything.
You
tend to eat the most fresh fruits and vegetables of all the
signs, not surprising since Virgo rules the autumn harvest.
Many Virgos are vegetarian. Just be sure you are getting a
wide variety of all the right foods, since it will take
good organization to be sure you are not missing iron, or
any other nutrient, from your diet. Happily, Virgo is the
world's greatest planner and well organized about anything
and everything in life.
Emotionally
Virgo worries too much! Therefore, distract yourself
now and then. You run the risk of going a little
overboard and getting somewhat compulsive. Remember,
Virgo: tomorrow is another day.
The
symbol associated with your sign is the Virgin, holding a
cluster of wheat. First of all the word virgin in
classical times did not have any connotations towards
sexuality or the lack thereof; what it’s original meaning
referred to was that of the independent woman who could or
had to take care of herself without marriage or the support
of a man. Consequently jobs such as midwives, nurses,
nannies, servants, or cooks for women without husbands were
called originally ‘virgins,' which also happen to be
typical Virgo service oriented occupations. And therefore
the word virgin depicts quite accurately the dependable and
reliable work ethic qualities of the sign Virgo.
Back
to the Virgin clutching the wheat as the symbol.
Holding the wheat symbolizes the gathering and harvesting
of the food for the winter. The end of August and
especially September is the time of harvesting the crops
and gathering the food to last through the long winter
months. The digestive system is also represented by your
sign because the intestinal organs gathers the food, breaks
it down, and then digests and assimilates the nutrients
from the food. The assimilation process also
describes the superior discrimination talent of Virgo's,
the ability to pick and choose what is the perfect solution
and to rid itself of all the unnecessary elements, much
like the digestive system.
The
Virgin symbol also expresses purity and perfection. Virgo's
tend to take on some of the qualities of a Virgin, things
like modesty and humility. Some might consider them
repressed, although Virgins would argue that it's a noble
quality, as opposed to a negative one.
The
Virgin symbol also indicates one who not only gathers the
food and does all the work but feeds and nourishes
others. Virgo's find their fullest expression through
service to others, being willing to do it quietly but
thoroughly. Taking care of endless details and
routine jobs is where you function best.
September
which is the period of Virgo is also the time when winter
once again begins to approach marking the end of summer,
the time to bring in the harvest and to prepare for winter.
The
great strength of the Virgo-born is in your practicality,
sharp mind and attention to detail. When merged with your
willingness to serve, Virgo's become essential in
supporting and caring for the maintenance of the planet.
It
has been said that Virgo's gift is making order out of
chaos. Send a Virgo into a earthquake damaged zone, and in
no time they've pitched the tents, organized the shipments
of food and water, and started clearing the roadways. If it
is one thing Virgo does well, its organize people and
things. But the special gift of Virgo is your
unrelenting contribution towards the needs of
others.
